Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Cauliflower Gnocchi Is Taking Over Instagram

The lighter alternative to traditional gnocchi is already going viral after an employee shared a photo of it.

Just when you thought we’d seen cauliflower transformed into every possible carb, Trader Joe’s has presented us with Cauliflower Gnocchi. We first caught wind of the product on Instagram, where a Trader Joe’s employee in Houston shared a photo of the gnocchi, explaining it’s been in stores for less than a week. The gnocchi uses cauliflower in place of potato and flour, making it a lightened-up, gluten-free alternative to traditional gnocchi.

Cauliflower is packed with vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, giving this gnocchi a nutritional boost. Other ingredients include cassava flour, potato starch, extra virgin olive oil, and sea salt.

If you’re in a rush, you can prepare the gnocchi in the microwave. But if you have a few extra minutes, Trader Joe’s suggests emptying the gnocchi into a skillet, adding 1/4 cup water, and cooking until the gnocchi is heated through. Throw in a tablespoon of olive oil, butter, or ghee, sauté until browned, and season to taste. Toss with sauce or simply cover in cheese.

Excited by the new product? You’re not alone. The Instagram account Trader Joe’s List recently re-grammed the photo, and it already has more than 3,000 comments. Find it in the freezer aisle of your nearest Trader Joe’s—or, in the meantime, try your hand at homemade gnocchi.
