Maxamillian Neubauer was given the chance to breastfeed his infant by a nurse at Door County Medical Center after his wife, April, had had multiple seizures during an emergency C-section.
The intimate dad & little girl bonding moment was captured in photographs that became a web sensation. The Facebook post accumulated in excess of 43,000 views and 30,000 shares as of Tuesday.
First-time mother April revealed to WBAY that she would never have children because she suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal issue that causes infrequent menstrual periods.
After learning she was pregnant, she built up a post-birth plan that included making immediate “skin-to-skin contact” with her infant. But complications arose during delivery and sent the new mother to the ICU.
Clinic nurse Cybil Martin-Dennehy offered new father Neubauer an elective “skin-to-skin” contact plan.
“Because of complications during Aprils c-session. This super rad nurse made an executioner offer, and I was sufficiently blessed to slap on a suction cup fake nipple. Being the first to breastfeed da baby!!!! ‘I did it for the mothers’ Eat your heart out!!” Neubauer said in a Facebook post.
Martin-Dennehy said that when she has offered fathers the chance to breastfeed their kid, she, for the most part, gets looks of perplexity and incredulity. She said Neubauer’s skin-to-skin response was a welcomed surprise.
“I adore my activity and am enthusiastic about breastfeeding, and I trust it urges other social insurance suppliers to perceive the part that fathers play in the breastfeeding venture. Perhaps more so now!” Martin-Dennehy told CBS news.
